  1. Both routes were under water in December 2009.

    1. The catchment for Lost Falls is very short. One week can make a difference between the rock being wet and dry. We've climbed the routes a couple of times and they are great fun - well worth the trip in the right conditions, especially if you're on the way to Freycinet. For mainlanders visiting Tassie on a road trip, Lost Falls is on the way to Freycinet from the north of the state and the camping is quite pleasant for a night. If the routes are wet, you haven't sacrificed much time for a stop off. Otherwise, it's probably a good idea to look at what has been happening with the weather in the area. Right now probably isn't great: both Ross and Bicheno are enjoying some liquid sunshine at the moment. An enjoyable day trip from Hobart if it's cool in the south and you need a fix, but you want to know that it's going to be dry.
